As the Federation of Ideas, one of fischerAppelt’s strengths is interdisciplinary cooperation between the various fields of communication. With the repositioning of the PR sector as fischerAppelt, relations, as well as the renaming of the holding company as fischerAppelt AG in late 2009, this core competency was further expanded. “Last year, we completed the reorientation as an agency group which we began in 2008,” according to Andreas Fischer-Appelt. “For our clients, the further improved networking of the disciplines means, above all, an additional advantage in efficiency and creativity.” The advertising sector was a central field of growth in 2009. The agency fischerAppelt, furore succeeded in expanding its portfolio with clients such as “be Berlin”, the Felix Burda Foundation, the Arbeitgeberverband Pflege (the German federation of nursing care employers) and Scoyo. Another important topic was online communication. In fischerAppelt, furore’s online unit, which has grown by leaps and bounds, websites and applications were realised for companies such as Deutsche Telekom and CosmosDirekt.
Besides advertising, the area of public relations was also expanded. New clients here include NAVIGON, OLYMPUS, tesa and BSH Bosch und Siemens Hausgeräte GmbH. With fischerAppelt, relations, PR was also repositioned within the Federation of Ideas in late 2009—under the direction of a four-person management team with Andreas Vill, previously managing director of fischerAppelt, tv media, as its chairman. “As the nucleus of the agency group, fischerAppelt, relations will continue to decisively spearhead the implementation of integrated campaigns and be a source of impetus for a new, modern image of PR”, according to Andreas Fischer-Appelt. Most recently, the agency had published a “declaration for a change of course in the opinion landscape” with its “Dek21”.
fischerAppelt, tv media, the group’s agency for moving image communication, is able to look back on a good year with productions and projects for Daimler, Breuninger, TÜV SÜD and Görtz. Moreover, it was possible to find an acknowledged communication expert, in the person of Mirco Völker, former Director of Classic Advertising at Mercedes-Benz, as a successor for Andreas Vill, who transferred to fischerAppelt, relations. Völker has been managing the business of the Stuttgart company together with Matthias Wesselmann since the beginning of 2010.
The agencies fischerAppelt, ziegler and LIGALUX expanded their client portfolios with clients such as Citigroup, Leonardo and the Burda Community Network.
Another important consulting field was the area of social media. A dedicated unit was created for this with the founding of the Social Media Strategy Lab, an interdisciplinary team of communication consultants from the various agencies of the group.
Again in 2009, fischerAppelt’s work and projects were recognised with various prizes and honours. Among other things, the agency group was named by the distinguished Dr. Doeblin Stiftung for the second time in a row as the agency with the best reputation among German business journalists and won a PR Report Award. Moreover fischerAppelt, furore and LIGALUX also won various prizes in the creative sector.
Despite difficult outline conditions and contrary to the market trend, fischerAppelt also hired new employees and invested in their continuing education in 2009. At the end of the year, the agency group had 232 employees.
When it comes to the outlook for the current business year, Fischer-Appelt is guardedly optimistic: “In 2010, efficiency and a focus on the results of communication will continue to be decisive. As fischerAppelt AG, we were able to continue improving our position over the past few months. This enables us to draw on all relevant communication disciplines and network them with one another at any time.”
